Meet the Teamm

Eleri Clarke

My name is Eleri, I’m a student at the University of Nottingham and I’m really excited to be taking part in the young people’s outreach project in August!

My brother and I have been involved with Hope at St Michael’s for a few years since our Dad was taken ill. Their support has been so important to us both and I’m really looking forward to taking part in the project and working with other young people who have had similar experiences.

I’ve never done anything like this before and I’m definitely nervous, but I hope I can meet my target and help make a difference for the children in Muheza and I can’t wait to face this new challenge!

Henry Jones

Hello, my name’s Henry. I’m 16 years old and I live near Hereford. I’m currently studying A Levels in my first year at college. I play a lot of rugby and I like being active; I also enjoy volunteering for St Michael’s Hospice. I’ve been connected to the Hospice pretty much all my life due to my mum working there, but in the past 4 years I’ve used their services myself and now I try and help out when I can. This project is an amazing opportunity and I’m honoured that I’m part of it – I’ve always wanted to go to Africa, so I’m happy I can fulfil that dream whilst also helping out others.

I want to take this opportunity and do everything I can to make it happen! I want to make a difference to others and see the happiness we can give. Also give back what the hospice gives to others and how supportive they are of all the young people that need it!

Sarah Ball

Hiya, my name is Sarah Ball, I am 15 and enjoy working on my family farm and sports. I have been involved with St Michael’s hospice now for 4 years following the death of my mum and now volunteer for them. I am also a member of the y-team for Hope (the organisation connected to St Michael’s). When I heard about this once in a lifetime opportunity, I wanted to get involved straight away and I am honoured to be offered a place to go. I love the thought of helping others and couldn’t wish for a better group of people to experience this trip with! I cannot wait!

Hey, my name is Morgan and I am currently in my final year of high school. Besides occupying my time with revision, I enjoy writing and drawing. I have been connected to St Michaels Hospice for quite a few years now and appreciate everything they have done for me. When I heard about this project, I immediately wanted to be a part of it and I am excited to say that I am. Africa has always intrigued me; their cultures and attitudes are much different from our own and I would love to experience that whilst having the opportunity to help others who are facing similar difficulties as we have.

Liberty Wilkinson

My name is Liberty Wilkinson and I am 18 years old. I am currently on a Gap Year and will start at university next September studying Midwifery. I feel really privileged to be part of the Young People’s Outreach project to Muheza in August. St Michael’s Hospice has played a huge part in my life in recent years and I hope that on this project I can help the Young People in Muheza to feel some of the support that I have felt through my own hospice. I am really looking forward to the project, especially being able to visit the maternity unit at the local hospital. This project is very close to my heart, and the same applies for all the other young people involved. I am looking forward to doing more fundraising as we get closer to our departure.

Isobel Targett

Hello, my name is Isobel Targett and I’m 14 years old. I enjoy sports such as ice-skating and dancing. I’ve been connected with St Michaels Hospice since I was 8 years of age leading up to the death of my mum 5 years ago. St Michaels Hospice and the Saturday club have been a huge part of my life and have helped me through the loss of my mum. I’m very lucky and privileged alongside my team members to be able to experience this amazing opportunity and that I have the chance to help others who are experiencing the same things that all of us have gone through as individuals.
